Backflow Testing

Backflow testing

If you live in a city, town or suburb it is likely that your home is connected to a "city" water system. These are public water systems in which a local authority pumps water from lakes and rivers then treats it to provide clean, safe water to your home.

If your home has lawn sprinkling, fire protection, pools or other uses which are considered to be of a high risk for contamination the water authority requires that a backflow valve be installed to protect the water supply. For example a water main break may cause a "backflow" condition to occur which allows contaminated water to be sucked back into your house. It may contain pet litter, fertilizers, pollutants and dangerous microorganisms which could lead to serious illness. A propertly installed and maintained backflow device prevents this. Water authorites commonly require that your backflow be tested by a state licensed techician annually. MWS provides testing and repair services for all makes and models of backflow devices with our highly trained and licensed technicians.
